Car wrecks in a luxury hotel: hoisting work in the heart of Antwerp
For an event in the center of Antwerp, an organizer brought in Transpico to place two car wrecks on the third floor of a luxury hotel.
The location determined the complexity. Working in a busy shopping street with limited maneuvering space—and ensuring zero impact on the surroundings or the building—required a thoroughly considered approach from preparation to execution.

For hoisting the wrecks, a telescopic crane combined with a spreader beam was chosen. This setup made it possible to lift the loads in a stable and controlled manner.
This approach allowed the wrecks to be placed directly onto the floor without the need for additional maneuvering with ropes. This increased safety and provided greater control during the lift.

The move took place in an urban environment with limited space and high foot traffic. This demanded tight organization of the site and a clear demarcation of the work zone.
Transpico secured the necessary permits from the City of Antwerp and coordinated the execution with the surrounding area, ensuring that the transport and hoisting operations could proceed safely and according to schedule.

The wrecks were accurately positioned on the third floor, exactly where the customer needed them.
The entire operation was completed in a single day. Work began on Monday morning, and by the afternoon, the wrecks were in position. A few days later, they were removed using the same controlled method.
The result: an efficient execution, with zero risk to the building or its surroundings, and completely on schedule.
